Build Space

INFRASTRUCTURE

Build Space is the groundwork of the space economy: the launch sites, factories, ground stations, power systems, and supply chains, plus the workforce that builds them and the policy that clears the way. Nothing moves, operates, or lives in space until this foundation exists.

WHY THIS MISSION MATTERS

Infrastructure has become the cost of entry. Close to 100 countries now operate satellites, and a growing number are standing up their own launch sites and spaceports. The regions that pair that hardware with a skilled workforce and supportive policy are the ones that turn capability into a working industry.

Move Through Space

MOBILITY

Move Through Space is how everything gets where it needs to go: launch, propulsion, in-space logistics, autonomous navigation, satellite servicing, and the movement of people, hardware, and materials across the space economy.

WHY THIS MISSION MATTERS

Demand for movement is exploding. The number of active satellites in orbit has more than doubled since 2022, passing 13,000 in 2025, with analysts projecting tens of thousands more by 2030. Every one of them has to be launched, positioned, maintained, and eventually moved or retired.

Operate in Space

INTELLIGENCE

Operate in Space is the work of running the domain, in orbit and increasingly on the lunar surface: satellite operations, communications, Earth observation, navigation, artificial intelligence, robotics, and cybersecurity, plus the lunar operations, drilling, and resource extraction that come with working farther from Earth. It turns raw activity into usable intelligence and dependable service.

WHY THIS MISSION MATTERS

Space is already load-bearing for daily life. Space-based systems underpin more than half of the critical infrastructure across advanced economies, including transportation, energy, food supply, finance, and emergency response. When a satellite fails, the effects reach the ground almost immediately.

Live in Space

LIFE

Live in Space is about people: health, habitats, food, medicine, life support, education, psychology, and the design of communities that can function far from Earth. It asks how humans survive off-planet, and how they stay well enough to keep going.

WHY THIS MISSION MATTERS

Humans have now lived continuously in orbit for more than 25 years, and the first commercial space stations are slated to begin operating before 2030, as the International Space Station heads toward retirement. The systems built to keep people alive up there, from closed-loop life support to space-grown food and medicine, routinely produce breakthroughs that improve life on Earth.

Prosper in Space

INDUSTRY

Prosper in Space turns capability into lasting economic value: manufacturing, entrepreneurship, workforce development, finance, and commercial innovation. It is the mission that decides whether space stays a research frontier or becomes a durable source of jobs and growth.

WHY THIS MISSION MATTERS

The money is following. The global space economy reached roughly $630 billion in 2024 and is on track for $1.8 trillion by 2035. Government space budgets alone hit a record $135 billion in 2024, and commercial activity now drives most of the growth.

Secure Space

DEFENSE

Secure Space keeps the domain safe, resilient, and dependable: national security, cyber resilience, resilient communications, space domain awareness, critical-infrastructure protection, and emergency response. It protects the systems every other mission relies on.

WHY THIS MISSION MATTERS

Space is now a contested domain. Defense is the single largest line in global government space budgets, about $73 billion of the record $135 billion spent in 2024. As navigation, communications, and intelligence all route through orbit, defending those assets has become both a national-security and an economic priority.
